Partners
The “Partnership in Heritage Awareness” involving the Alberta Historical Resources Foundation, Legacy, and Alberta’s schools helps teachers and students across Alberta learn more about our distinct and enduring heritage, arts, and culture. Among other initiatives, it pays for a subscription to Legacy for every school in the province, providing them with a unique and appreciated made-in-Alberta resource about Alberta’s enduring heritage and culture.
AHRF assists in the preservation and interpretation of Alberta's historical resources, primarily through the encouragement and sponsorship of community heritage initiatives. It is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of private citizens drawn from all walks of life and from all regions of the province. The foundation acts as the single window for Alberta Lottery Fund to support heritage in Alberta.
Heritage Awards are offered biennially to recognize and celebrate outstanding accomplishments and projects by individuals, organizations and corporations in the protection, preservation and promotion of heritage in the province. If you know of a person, project or municipality that demonstrates excellence in heritage preservation, please consider nominating them.
Through the Heritage Preservation Partnership Program, the foundation offers matching grants, along with technical and professional assistance, to organizations and individuals for heritage preservation initiatives such as the restoration of historic structures, the production of historical interpretive markers and the publishing of books and brochures about Alberta's history. These initiatives bring social, educational and economic benefits to the community and enhance Albertans' quality of life.
