Our Legacy
Legacy, Alberta’s heritage, arts, and culture magazine, was first published in January, 1996. Since that time, well-known Alberta writers have shared their insights and experiences about the way in which Albertans create, celebrate, and preserve our enduring arts and cultural heritage. Each issue of this full-colour, quarterly publication features events, programs, the arts, architecture, photo essays, people, and places. A full-colour quarterly publication, Legacy’s regular departments cover destinations, gardens, profiles, books, food, music, and provocative ideas.
Legacy was an Alberta Magazine of the Year finalist in 2006.
In the words of our readers:
I want to thank you for Legacy Magazine, and to wish you well with it. It’s a brave thing to launch a quality magazine in Canada. A cheque for my subscription is enclosed. ~ Fil Fraser
Great work! Keep it up—Alberta needs you. ~ Ted Bishop
I very much enjoy the magazine all the time, and in every respect. ~ Tommy Banks
Your magazine has become essential reading. ~ Myrna Kostash
The magazine looks and reads better than ever. The hoop dancer and railroad stories are two of my favourites this issue and the illustrations and photography are very fine throughout. I also applaud the poems and reviews, of course. ~ Sid Marty
What a wonderful achievement! These days, even surviving in the magazine trade — let alone publishing consistently high-quality material on subjects that matter, as you do — is a formidable feat. Hats off to you and your team, and here's to many more. You are indeed building a wonderful legacy (and Legacy) for your province, and beyond. Rock on!
With all good wishes, ~ Geo Takach
I am writing to let you know how much I enjoy reading Legacy Magazine. I feel that your publication has established itself as an important source for cultural information pertaining to Alberta. Invariably, your issues provide an informative and entertaining look at a myriad of topics including the arts, people, places, architecture, and special events. May you continue to grow and flourish. ~ The Honourable Lois Hole
